the contemporary home
The homeowners in this cozy neighborhood spent hours researching ideas, products, architects, and builders. The decision to remodel their existing home became an adventure that they embarked upon with enthusiastic delight! Damian Farrell’s creative designs were the perfect fit for their architectural needs. Steve Shutt of Kingston Builders completed a remodeling team that worked seamlessly together, turning the homeowners’ dreams and the architect’s plans into an amazing reality.
The 500 sq ft addition, and main living space renovations were carefully designed to maximize space; from the ultra modern, yet artistically casual space for daily living and entertaining, to the mezzanine library for quiet contemplation. Custom features abound, from the stone tower, copper trims, “rusted” corrugated siding and metal halo on the exterior; to the spiral staircase, hardwood floors, cedar ceiling, shoji doors, art alcove, and fireplace bench on the inside! Many energy saving features were incorporated into the design, phase II and III promise more exciting and innovative ideas to come!
This spectacular home was showcased in the exclusive Ann Arbor’s Remodelers Home Tour in 2012.
